Why do we have to arrive 30 Min Early?
Why do I need a reservation?
The very best way to make a reservation is here on our web site, but if you have questions, please do call. Whether you book online or over the phone, our reservation system will send you a confirmation email with directions to the trail head, so you will have complete and secure information about your reservation. With the reservation you are guaranteed the horses and time slot. And someday reservation is non- refundable once reservations are made.
What should I wear/bring?
We recommend you wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. NO flip-flops! In the summer, you will want plenty of sunscreen and a bottle of water. If you wear a hat, be sure it is secured with a “stampede” string or wear a baseball type cap. Wearing large cameras, bags, backpacks or purses on the ride is not allowed, and we will safely store your gear until after the ride. Do BRING YOUR POCKET SIZE CAMERA!
Can children ride?
3-5 years old ride with One of our Cowboys or Cowgirls, 6 years and above go on their own horse. If they are timid or scared one of our Wranglers will help the child and if need be they can take lead rope down and lead them through trail.
Can my special needs child ride?
Yes, but we do ask that you let us know what his/her needs are ahead of time, so that we may know how to best accommodate your child and provide extra care and safety.
What is there for younger children to do?
By special arrangement, we can lead a 5 or 6 year old on the trail. For children 3-5 years old we can provide what we call pony rides, which is really being led on a full size horse around the property. We do require 1 parent to stay and help supervise this activity. After the pony ride they can enjoy the Petting Zoo.
Can my family have a private ride?
Yes, we can arrange this for you if you let us know at the time of your reservation.
Are there weight restrictions?
NO Our insurance recommends a weight limit of 225 pounds. We ask that you notify us of weights over 225 pounds when you make your reservation, If you are not Height and weight proportioned we limit the time on the trail but we will do our best to accommodate you as well as any other special needs. Pregnant women are not allowed to ride. Please do not get offended when asked, we are only concerned for your baby’s and your Health.
Do you ride in the rain?
Generally, we will ride in the rain. We do NOT ride in severe thunderstorms where conditions are unsafe. This occurs most often late in the afternoon during our summer monsoon season (July-mid Sept). Sometimes we can wait until the storm passes, sometimes we have to reschedule. We do follow the 30-30 rule which means we wait 30 minutes after hearing thunder/lightning before we begin the ride and the latest we would send out a dinner ride is 6 pm. We really hate to disappoint guests, but we always put safety first.
What if I have to cancel?
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. You will be charged 100% if you fail to show up for your reservation, and will be charged 50% if cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice. Exceptions are made for illness or unpredictable family emergencies. Same day reservations is NON refundable.
Why can’t we ride faster?
There are three reasons: first, if one horse goes faster, they all do and we almost always have with us young children or people who have never ridden, who could not safely handle riding faster; second, the horse that goes faster today will likely expect to go faster tomorrow, and may be carrying someone who can’t handle it; and third our insurance prohibits it.
What is you tipping policy?
Tips are always appreciated! If you choose to tip, we regard it as a sign of a job exceptionally well done, and we thank you.
